Man drowns in Khuga water

CCpur, Jun 18: A 35 year-old man who was part of 40 odd people on a holiday cum picnic tour reportedly met a tragic fate today as he drowned at Khuga dam at about 3.30 pm
Meishnam Robindro (35) s/o Meishnam Hajur of Bishnupur Chingdong village was riding a makeshift boat along with seven others when he reportedly jumped into the water for a swim, sources said.
The picnic team was about to wind up their tour as the group of 8 rode the boat after having their meal said local sources who witnessed the incident. On the boat they were cracking jokes and having fun, with three of them including Robindro jumping to the water. All three returned to the boat immediately but Robindro allegedly made a second jump which turned fatal as he failed to reappear.
As news about the tragic incident spread, several people from the nearby villages immediately joined the search which was eventually joined by the police and the district authority.
The State Disaster Response Force along with families of the victim later in the day joined the search which by the time of filing this report has not yet yielded any positive results.
