E Shashikanta wins Kh Ramnarayan Memorial Chess tournament title

IMPHAL, Jun 30 : E Shashikanta fetched 7.5 points at the end of 9th round to win the title of the 4th Kh Ramnarayan Shastree Memorial State Level Chess tournament organised by Juvenile Club, Tera Sapam Leirak at its auditorium under the aegis of Manipur Chess Association.
E Shashikanta and S Somorendro who faced off on the top table today ended in a draw enabling E Shashi earn 7.5 points and the tournament title.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was attended by Ak Mirabai, MLA, Patsoi AC; Sapam Robindro, president, Juvenile Club; Sinam Rahul, Zilla Parishad member Changangei GP; Athokpam Bishwarjit Singh, Pradhan, Sapam Leirak GP; Kh Imo, Up-Pradhan, Sapam Leirak GP; Khuraijam Barnikanta, president, Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shastree Memorial Trust and Thongam Nabachandra, secretary, Manipur Chess Association as dignitaries who also feted the participants.
Tournament winner, E Shashikanta was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with trophy and certificate and second placed, RK Apollosana was feted with Rs 15,000. Third place Ch Chakritombi was awarded Rs 10,000 and fourth placed H Somokanta received a cash prize of Rs 7,000.
Fifth placed, K Poireikhomba; 6th placed, T Somorendro were also feted with Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively along with certificates and trophies. Other chess players who made it upto 12 position were feted with Rs 1,000 each.
H Maniton, Bit Irom and M Pishak who secured top three places among the veteran players ; G Arosemit; Jeles Th and N Nelson who finished top three places among the boys; and S Nadiya, Th Karuna and Th Preeti who made the top three positions among the girls were respectively awarded with Rs 3,000; Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 along with certificates and trophies.
Dayanand Th and RK Bidyaluxmi were also awarded with consolation prize worth Rs 500 and trophies for the boys and girls categories.
Best promising player, Lemba S was also feted with Rs 1,000 along with certificate and trophy while A Shyamkishore and M Rana were adjudged best disciplined players.
