Manipur amass 25 medals at National Women Master Athletic Championship

IMPHAL, Jun 30 : Kongbrailatpam Shyama Devi won three gold medals as Manipur earned 12 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals at the 1st National Women Master Athletic Championship held at Goa under the aegis of Master Athletic Federation of India.
K Shyama Devi struck her first gold medal in the 100 m race for above 65 women's category after she finished on top taking 16.9 seconds while her second gold medal came up in the high jump event in which she recorded a mark of 0.95 m and the third gold in the long jump event where she finished with a 3.13 m jump.
Manipur's Thongam Memcha added another gold medal to the State's tally as she finished first in the 200 m event for above 55 years with a time of 36.4 seconds while Indubala Devi H settled for a silver medal in the 50 above shot put event after she managed 8.45 m hurl.
Athokpam Rosy won another gold medal for Manipur in the 5 km walk for above 40 years where she recorded 34 minutes 24.8 seconds.
Indubala Devi also won a gold medal in the above 50 years javelin throw event (24.64 m). Thounaojam Akasini who bagged the gold medal in the 1500 m race for above 70 years category after she finished first with a time of 8 minutes 57.01 seconds yesterday also win the 400 m race title completing the course in 1  minute 49.6 seconds.
Bimola Devi claimed the above 60 years long jump event title with a jump of 2.93 m. Mangol Devi clinched the javelin throw title for above 80 years event while Landhoni registered 20.95 m in hammer throw event at the championship to win another gold medal. Long jump gold for above 75 years event also went to Manipur's Sunita Devi who recorded 11.82 m in her attempts. Yesterday, Chongtham Thambalsana clocked 8:33.48 in the 1,500 m event for above 60 years to finish second and grab the silver medal. L Inaobi Devi recorded 15.91 m in the javelin throw event for above 65 years to win the other silver medal for the State while W Thaballei finished third to win the bronze medal in the same event with a throw of 14.84 m.
