KFA organises exhibition football match for Barak river victim’s children

KANGPOKPI, Jul 1: Playing football is not everything for the newly established Kuki Football Academy when it has a huge space for humanity in the soft corner of its heart and this was proven recently when the academy at D  Phaihel village in Kangpokpi district made a giant contribution for the desperate children of Barak river victims.
With the motivational thought, “every act of generosity counts and means even more when people give together”, the Kuki Football Academy, the first to organized night tourney in Manipur organized a laudable football exhibition match involving noted ISL players from the State and the Sadar Hills XI to generate financial aid for the brokenhearted six siblings of Barak river victims from Kaimai village in Tamenglong district.
Mangliengou Singson, a poor cultivator from Kaimai village under Tousem Sub Division in Tamenglong district who survived his family by collecting river snail in Barak River, along with his wife Lhaikholhing Singson and his eldest daughter Themngailhing Singson lost their lives in the largest fresh river in the state while collecting the river snail on May 29 leaving behind six helpless siblings.
The Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL) immediately swung into action in an attempt to restore the six grief-stricken children who were now sheltered at the Government recognized home, Sanga Mon Inn at Churachandpur with the consent of the families and after due Government procedures.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills graced the exhibition match in aid of Barak River victim’s children as chief guest while Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman ADC Sadar Hills and Manglenthang Zou, president, Kuki Football Academy attended as guest of honour and functional president respectively. Executive Members and Members of ADC Sadar Hills including Lamkholen Kipgen, Lalboi, Vikas Basnet, Kaisei Lhouvum, Milan Pradhan, Sagar Gewali and DSA Sadar Hills President, Chongpu Kipgen attended the event as special guests.
Noted Manipuri artiste and actor Sadananda and Chitra apart from other Kuki artistes enthralled the thousands crowd during the program.
The squad of ISL players from the State who took part in the exhibition match included Dheeraj, Nawaz, Rakip, Pritam, Ranjan, Sana, Lenminlun, David, Mangku, S Tuboi, Reuben, Khukhup, Gogou, Momon, Thoi Singh, Len Doungel, Semboi, Yasir, Boithang, Jackie, Udanta, Milan and Loken while the Sadar Hills XI squad included Thangtinlen Haokip, Lenminlun, Lallenmang Sitlhou, Thanglenmawi Vaiphei, Seiminthang Lhouvum, Nelson Kom, Satgouthang Kom, Nelson Sitlhou, Khaigin Kipgen, Gousem Kipgen, Thangjoylen Khongsai, Haolengou Kipgen, Janggoulen Kipgen, Lentinsei Kipgen, Hegou Khongsai, Paolenlal Khongsai, Nehkhosong Singsit, Elminhao Kilong and Ngamgougin.
The exhibition match at KFA Playground at D Phaihel was won by ISL Player 2-1 while the fund generated from the match is Rs 1,00,555. The officials of KFA went to Sanga Mon Inn at Churachandpur today to hand over the cash to the responsible authority.
