107th birth anniversary of Hemam Nilamani observed

BISHNUPUR, Jul 10: 107th birth anniversary of freedom fighter H Nilamani Singh was observed today at INA Memorial Hall in Moirang, Bishnupur district.
H Nilamani Singh was a sympathiser of the Indian National Army which fought against British in India. He was also served as Deputy Education Minister in Manipur Government.
Organised by Hemam Nilamani Foundation (Charitable Trust) Moirang, the observance was attended by Herbert Higher Secondary School Principal K Nabachandra Singh, retd Head Master Mukta High School, Moirang Ph Shamu Singh, retd Principal Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School T Manglem Singh and president Hemam Nilamani Foundation Moirang Hemam Babudhon Singh as presidium members.
The gathering at the event paid floral tributes to the photo of the late freedom fighter.
As part of the observance, two students of Moirang AC (one from Government school and other from private school) who scored highest mark in Class X examination conducted by BOSEM were feted with Rs 2,000 each and mementos. Three students of the AC who have excelled in the Class XII examination were also encouraged with Rs 3,000 each and mementos.
Speaking as resource person, retd Associate Professor Y Modhu Singh narrated the story of freedom fighter  H Nilamani Singh and his contribution towards Manipuri society.
