Computer training prog held at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, Jul 10: A three day training programme on computer literacy for teachers and students of Government schools in Ukhrul district concluded today at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Wino Bazar, Ukhrul.
The computer training programme  emphasized to ameliorate rural denizens on computer knowledge and students to be more familiar with computer and its applications.
Director USM's Shriram Mantri Vidyanidhi Info Tech Academy, Mumbai Savita Thakur enlightened the trainees on the latest computer application that helps teachers and the students easily access modern technology especially information technology while imparting knowledge.
The students were familiarised with "learn digital art using Tux Paint" and taught use of offline computer application "Scratch", a free programming language developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  The students were taught to write program to create interactive games using Scratch.
Before the closing function, students from Class- VIII girls displayed computer game they developed using Scratch.
Speaking on the sideline of the function, Thakur said the programme was organised to impart computer education and create friendly environment with the people across the Nation.
They had organized computer training programmes at Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Thakur said.
She also highlighted importance and need of initiating exchange programmes of teachers and students between metro cities and rural people to get connected and better understand one another.
Thakur also expressed that the Indian National Fellowship Centre, an NGO founded by Padmanabha Acharya, Governor of Nagaland and Manipur  facilitated.
The three days computer training programme began on July 8. It was participated by 30 teachers from schools across Ukhrul, Chingai and Kamjong. 43 students from Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and Model School, Ukhrul participated the event.
ZEO in-charge Ukhrul Ningshim Shaiza, Winsome Zingkhai and ZEO staff attended the closing function organised by  Department of Education(S), Government of Manipur in collaboration with Indian National Fellowship Centre. USM's Shriram Mantri Vidyanidhi Info Tech Academy, Mumbai conducted and Saraswat Co-operative Bank sponsored the programme.
