Cheengkhu YC lift 3rd KAPAAM Cup title with shoot-out win against Telien United

IMPHAL, Jul 12 : Cheengkhu YC were crowned champions of 3rd KAPAAM Cup after a 8-7 shoot-out win against Telien United as the normal time of the final encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.
Though the game was a low scoring, there was a tight competition from both the ends right from the beginning. Cheengkhu YC however took a step ahead when Angthot found the opener in the 35th minute after a flurry of exchanges and interceptions.
Cheengkhu YC looked positive to earn the title without stretching the game to penalty shoot-out as they defended their lead well for a major portion of the game while attempting to breach past Telien United defence on multiple occasions but sadly the lead was cancelled out when Thantinlen of Telien United capitalised on the ball lately in the 84th and sent it past the Cheengkhu YC's custodian.
The last few minutes saw desperate attempts from both the sides to find the lead but ended without any result leading the game to settle via penalty shoot-out.
In the shoot-out, Patrick, Lenmingou, Daniel, Mangku, Henry Chungnei scored for Telien United but Thangtinlen miss after his team mate Nelson blunder proved costly as Krishna gave Cheengkhu YC the edge after Roshan, Rengshel, Bungpen, Angthot, Momo and Rengpol found the target although Bunghong of the team missed his chance.
A total of 18 teams took part in this knock-out tournament organised by Kapaam Development Club at its playground.
