Girl students of Wisdom Foundation receive "Sarit Sarak Phuna Kanglon" lessons

IMPHAL, Jul 12 : In one of the encouraging initiatives by Kanglei Indigenous Martial Art and Cultural Society (KIMACS) and Sarit Sarak Association Manipur, the girl students of Wisdom Foundation  School Khangabok, in Thoubal district were imparted "Sarit Sarak Mahei Phuna Kanglon (unarmed fighting moves)" lessons on Thursday.
The one day programme was aimed at empowering and imparting girl students and women of all ages with easy to grasp self defence skills which will came handy in life threatening and grossly offensive situations that could kill or outrage the girl's (self or other) modesty, said a press statement issued by Sarit Sarak Association of Manipur. Few selected important sarit sarak skills which are an inseparable part of Huyen Langlon and Thang-Ta, were taught to the girls during the programme.
N Ibohal Meitei,  Shintakpa (instructor/ coach), of Meitei Inat Sindam Apunba, Heingang; N Jivan Mangang, Shintakpa at Eastern Thang-Ta Organisation, Tangkham; Saikhom Santa Meetei, general secretary KIMACS; Kh Nilakanta, Shintakpa at UFO, Yurembam and other eminent sarit sarak ojas/ teachers taught the student girls the necessary moves and techniques which involves less movement and physical strength during the programme, the statement said. Sarit Sarak Association Manipur also stated that the women of the State who have been the driving force in every field are very much required to learn and upskill themselves with such sarit sarak moves so that they could reduce the risks in times of dangerous and threatening situations. The associations also aims to carry out such sarit sarak training programmes extensively in every nook and corner of the State with main focus on school and college going girls students in the coming days, the statement added.
