State Subroto Mukerjee Football: Bishnupur vs Imphal East in U-14 boys' final, Thoubal vs Ukhrul in U-17 title clash

IMPHAL, Jul 12 : The final line up of U-14 and U-17 boys competitions of the State Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament being organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Main Stadium and Practise Field have been completed with the conclusion of semi-final matches today. TG English School which are representing Bishnupur district will lock horns with Unique Model Academy, Imphal East in the U-14 boys final tomorrow (July 13, Saturday) while Springfield School, Thoubal will fight it out for the U-17 boys title against Ukhrul Public School, Ukhrul.
U-14 boys' semi-finals
In the first semi-final of the U-14 boys competition of the State level event, TG English School edged Kakching Wairi High School, Kakching district out by 3-1 goals via penalty shoot-out after a goalless draw during normal time.
The Kakching side had a golden opportunity to find a place in the final in the last minute of the normal time after its striker Dhanachandra was fouled by Banerjee of TG English School while attempting a goal inside the penalty box.
Arjun of Kakching Wairi High School who spot kick however squandered the chance as the keeper of the Bishnupur side was quick to read his mind and parried away the shot to keep his team's hope very much alive. The game was eventually decided via shoots from the penalty mark wherein Avinash, Naresh and Abungton scored for the Bishnupur side against a goal converted by Malemnganba of the Kakching side.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Unique Model Academy thrashed Themzan Academy 3-0 courtesy of a brace by Nelson Sapam (8', 33') and a single by Y Monish (23').
U-17 boys' semi-finals
Elsewhere in the first semi-final match of the U-17 boys' competition Springfield School Thoubal saw off HM English School, Churachandpur by 5-3 goals in a high scoring match to set up final date with Ukhrul Public School which edged out, VM High School, Tengnoupal by 2-1 goals in another semi-final match.
N Ajitkumar scored thrice (3', 42', 46') for the Thoubal side in the first semi-final while Kh Arun (15') and G Nanao Kabui (42') added a single to make it 5-3 while Johnson (2', 60') and Kamlensang (11') scored for HM English School, Churachandpur.
Ukhrul Public School on the other hand earned the final spot with the help of first half goals by Changwaring (20') and Kajipi (27'). The consolation goal of the VM High School, Tengnoupal was scored by Angmilen in the 36th minute.
The final match cum closing ceremony of the tournament will be attended by Armstrong Pame, Director YAS and P Renedy Singh, former Indian football captain as dignitaries
