Agri Minister inaugurates SL Lamka turf

CCPUR, Jul 13 : Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian today inaugurated the first artificial turf ground in the district – the SL Lamka turf at Gangpimuol village, Churachandpur in a solemn function that was attended by Jacintha Lazarus (IAS), C Arthur (IAS) and K Kabib (IPS) and ISL’s fastest goal scorer Jerry Mawihmingthanga, among others.
The artificial turf, about a quarter of a standard soccer field was meant to host five a side or futsal matches and it will offer the local youths an exposure to the artificial turf and a completely different pitch far from the mud and dust laden ground they have been playing so far.
The turf's owner S Kamsuanlun former ADC member, said will be open to public for tournament or soccer indulgence at a reasonable price to be charged on an hourly basis.
V Hangkhanlian while inaugurating the turf commended the pain and efforts taken by the architect of such a novel initiative which he said will go a long way in serving the local youths and talents.
Jacintha and Kabib, who also spoke on the occasion, hailed the effort and novelty behind such initiative while they both consider it to be an effective instrument that will channelize the local youths to the right path and exposure.
The turf will be open to the public with immediate effect at a rental price of Rs 1500 per hour during the day and Rs 2000 per hour at night. As an inaugural offer the rental will be discounted by Rs 500 for the first month, according to Kamsuanlun.
