13th Festival of Thang-ta organised

IMPHAL, Jul 13: JNMDA, Imphal Director L Upendra has urged all Thang-ta performers, scholars and academicians in the State to collectively work together in preserving and carrying forward the martial art form.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 13th Festival of Thang-ta organized by Kangleipak Thang-ta Cultural Association, Kongba Kshetri Leikai under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi at its auditorium located at Lairenpat, Yairipok Road, Imphal East today.
Pointing out that Thang-ta is a unique martial art of Manipur which adorns high philosophical values, cultural assets and organized characteristics of the Meitei society, the Director asked all the Gurus of Thang-ta to impart whatever skills and knowledge about the martial art form to the present generations so that the it remains alive in the future generations.
