YWC-L kick off Imphal West Super Division League with 2-1 win

IMPHAL, Jul 13 : YWC, Langthabal opened up the 20th Sougaijam Birendra Singh Memorial Super Division League Football Tournament 2019 organised by Imphal West District Football Association with a 2-1 win against CHIKL, Lilong Chajing at Chajing Kangjeibung today.
The inaugural function cum opening match of the district level tournament participated by 6 teams was attended by Revenue Minister, Karam Shyam; Dr Khangembam Radheshyam, Retd Chief Medical Officer Thoubal; Lairenjam Maipak Meitei, Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Department; Ningthoujam Basanti Devi, Lecturer,  Regional College Lilong Chajing and H Meghachandra Singh, vice president Imphal East District Football Association as dignitaries.
Both YWC-L and CHIKL took off the game on a cautious note but Th Chingkheinganba's strike in the 20th minute helped YWC-L take the 1-0 lead till the break.
CHIKL which trailed by one goal in the first half made a positive approach after the restart and their efforts were paid off in the 43rd minute when Th Chingkheinganba found the net and square off the scoring.
The parity was however broken in the 59th minute when L Binoy beat past the CHIKL keeper.
The remainder of the game saw YWC-L hold on their lead despite valiant efforts made by CHIKL to draw level and eventually earned full points.
YDO, Konjeng Lamdong Leikai will meet BMSC, Taobungkhok in the second league match on July 15 at Football Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak at 1.30 pm while SKYC, Awang Sekmai will meet MPSC, 1st MR in the third match latter at 3.15.
