Month long training on Moirang Parva ends

IMPHAL, Jul 14: Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Theatre Mirror, Imphal concluded the '25th One Month Training on Moirang Parva Tradition' at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal Sunday. Speaking at the event, camp director Sougrakpam Hemanta  said that the event was the 25th edition of the training programme which started in 1995.
Held every year for a month, the training programme aims at preservation and promotion of Shumang Leela and Moirang Parva, he said emphasising the need to educate younger generation about the indigenous theatre/art forms. The training programme is opened to people of all  ages, he added.
During the programme, the trainees including children were trained and educated on dance, singing, traditional music, martial art, script writing, direction and other essence of theatre art, he said.
A total of 62 including 21 children were trained under 24 Gurus during the programme.
Adhyaksha Imphal East P Bimola Devi and Adhyaksha Imphal West RK Taruni Devi attended the closing  event as chief guest and president respectively.
