NCMM crowned champions of Sushilkumar Memorial Women's Hockey tourney

IMPHAL, Jul 14 : NCMM, Sabal Leikai earned the title of 2nd Phanjoubam Sushilkumar Singh Memorial Women's Veteran Hockey tournament organised under the aegis of Manipur Veteran Hockey Association at Hockey Stadium Khuman Lampak after beating LYTNM, Mantripukhri by 7-3 goals in a one sided final encounter on Sunday.
N Punam (8', 9', 16', 36') made the most of the scoring in this match with four goals in her name to ensure NCMM clinch a huge 7-3 win against LYTNM while her compatriot G Amusana struck twice (6', 37').
Ksh Sushma added the other goal for the winning side in the 14th minute of the match.
LYTNM on the other hand fetched the goals through Anginabanbi (13'), P Inaocha (17') and P Tilotama (38').
The valedictory function of the tournament participated by three teams was attended by T Phulen Meitei, MCS, Addl State Project Director, SSA and secretary of TRAU; Soram Lokeshwor Singh, president, Manipur Veteran Hockey Association; Sanasam Sarat Singh, Member, Imphal Municipal Corporation; Thokchom Ravi Singh, former National Hockey Player and P Nilakomol Singh, first Olympian from the State, vice president Manipur Veteran Hockey Association as dignitaries who also feted the winners and runners up with Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 along with trophies.
Player of the tournament, Th Nandini of NCMM; highest scorer of the tournament, N Punam of NCMM; best goalkeeper, A Shandhyarani of NCMM and player of the final match, P Inaocha of LYTNM were also honoured with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each along with trophies.
 PTE were also encourage with a consolation prize of Rs 2,000 and a trophy.
