Trees planted at different places

As part of the 70th Van Mahotsav, Bharat Swabhiman (Trust) & Patanjali Yog Samiti, Imphal West district conducted a tree plantation programme today at Heibok Mahadeva, Hiyangthang, Imphal West.
The trust has been initiating different activities in Imphal West district to increase green cover by planting trees and medicinal plants since 2015, said a statement of Bharat Swabhiman (Trust), Imphal West district.
The trust planted about 50 saplings at Heibok Mahadeva. The tree plantation drive will continue till August 4 - Jadi Bhuti Diwas of the trust. M Charan Singh Zilla Prabhari, BST Imphal West, members of the trust and Heibok Mahadeva Development Committee took part in the programme, said the statement.
Meanwhile, JNIMS authority too planted trees at its campus today as part of Van Mahotsav.
JNIMS Director Prof Th Bhimo, doctors, students and police personnel planted saplings.
Later, JNIMS authority and police conducted a food safety drive at the campus and seized tobacco products from the food stalls and vendors. The seized tobacco items were burned.
Strict actions will be taken up against shops/vendors found selling tobacco products, said JNIMS Medical Superintendent Prof N Jitendra.
