Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) and All Meetei Pangal Students' Union of Manipur (AMPSUM)  conducted an inspection tour at Phoubitek High School and found many insufficiencies at the school today.
A press release issued by secretary general and secretary of SSUM stated that Phoubitek High School has classes from I to X (325 in total). However, the union found that students from class I to VII are only taught at present.
Out of 17 teachers who are required to teach at the school, only 13 were found present (including six utilised teachers), it said and added that only few classroom are in a good position while the remaining class rooms are either leaking or walls cracking.
Meanwhile, no computer and other facilities along with separate toilets are available at the school, it said and added that the SSUM found the school with no fence except some makeshift fence made by the local club.
SSUM and AMPSUM have appealed to the State Government to look into such loopholes and insufficiencies so that the condition of schools are improved and in turn benefit the young minds of the State.
