KANGPOKPI, Jul 15: The oldest Kuki revolutionary armed group, the Kuki National Front (KNF) arrived at a strong condemnation over the alleged merciless killing of UKLF’s Moreh Town Commander in a broad daylight on July 13 and strongly appealed to the state Police Department to act according to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the deceased wife without delaying the procedure.
The outfit Information and Publicity Secretary, Lh Stephen said that as wanton killings reattempted to impede the hard earned peaceful environment in its ugliest form, especially among the Kuki communities in the state, KNF being the mother organization of all the Kuki armed revolutionary group could not remain silent over the indefensible crime.
He continued that wanton killings occurred among all communities but people have started to realize the worthlessness of such act in the society and therefore eschewed away from such act of crime in such a positive way that they are engaged hectically in promoting peace and harmony in the society.
He also said that it is undeniable fact that wanton killings had also prevailed among the Kuki community in the past as well but we have also moved away from such worthless act and perseveringly restore the already shattered peaceful environment with the involvement of various civil society organizations.
However, the prevailing situation in the past few weeks wherein the wanton killings reattempted to take its ugly form in the Kuki society is very much disappointing and unwelcome for the outfit being a mother organization for which we strongly condemned the killing of a village chief and his nephew on July 10 and the recent broad daylight killing of John Gangte, Moreh Town Commander of UKLF in the strongest term, said Lh Stephen.
He alleged that UKLF Moreh Town Commander, John Gangte was brutally murdered by KNA cadres in a broad daylight at Ngamkhai Veng in Moreh but the accused KNA cadres denied their involvement in the crime while adding that a mere denying on the part of KNA will not resolve the issue as the perpetrators names were clearly mentioned in the FIR lodged by the deceased wife.
He also said that according to the FIR, the perpetrators mentioned are Thongmang Haokip, Moreh Town Command, KNA; Hemlen Khongsai, Second-in-Command, Hermon Camp and Seingam Haokip, KNA Cadre, a resident of Chavangphai, Moreh.
Now, the onus lies with the police department as a case has been already registered for which the police department should take sincere steps and measure according to the said FIR number and KNF feels that the individuals mentioned in the FIR must be called for interrogation by the police without further delay to deliver justice, he added.
He further recalled that in 2017, Capt Jamkholal Zou of UKLF was also shot dead by KNA but the perpetrators of the crime still remained scot free but we still believe in the Government of India and Government of Manipur and its various mechanism that justice will be done this time at the earliest as we considered such act of irresponsible killing and barbarism has no place in the Kuki society while the political dialogue is progressing positively.
The Kuki National Front cadres and all ranks also expressed heartfelt condolence on the untimely demise of John Gangte and share the pain and grief of the bereaved family while stating that John Gangte service to the nation will be remembered fondly.
