5th Hill Districts Sports Meet: Victories for DSA Ukhrul, CCpur in football; wins for Senapati, Sadar Hills in Women’s Volleyball

KANGPOKPI, Jul 3: DSA Ukhrul maintained its unbeaten 4-1 wins record when it defeated DSA Senapati 4-1 today in the first match of the ongoing 5th Inter Hill Districts Sports Meet, 2019 at Brig M Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi DHQs while DSA Churachandpur edged past DSA Chandel 2-1 in the second match.
Yesterday, DSA Ukhrul had a comfortable 4-1 win over DSA Tamenglong and repeated the same today over DSA Senapati to become the highest goal scoring team so far with eight goals in two matches. The Ukhrul side was very much confident since the start of the game but Senapati side scored the first goal in the 26th minute through Dahrii.
However, DSA Ukhrul cameback with better performance in the second half to find the equalizer through Worchuipei K in the 48th minute before adding another leading goal in the 65th minute while Thangvah Ragui and Wungngayam Muirang added one goal each in the 76th and 81st minutes respectively to book a berth in the knockout stage.
In the second match, DSA Chandel had another similar 1-2 defeat in the hands of DSA Churachandpur to exit early in group stage.
DSA Churachandpur found an early goal in the 16th minute through Gogou Hangshing while Ginmuiuthang added another goal in the 30th minute before the first half.
However, DSA Chandel reduced the goal margin to 1-2 with a goal in the 60th minute through Athes.
Meanwhile, in women’s Volleyball competition played in the morning at the same venue, DSA Senapati defeated DSA Tamenglong in the first match while DSA Sadar Hills smashed down DSA Churachandpur in the second match and DSA Chandel outclassed DSA Tamenglong again in the third match.
Tomorrow's match:
DSA Sadar Hills (JSYC) will play DSA Churachandpur in the first match while DSA Senapati will take on DSA Tamenglong in the second match in men’s football.
In women’s Volleyball, DSA Sadar Hills will play DSA Ukhrul in the first match, DSA Chandel will play DSA Senapati in the second match and DSA Ukhrul will play again DSA Churachandpur in the third match.
