IMPHAL, Jul 5 : Registrar of Societies, Manipur is preparing to conduct the election of AMFA (All Manipur Football Association) Executive Council Meeting at the earliest to avoid any complicacies in the future as the executive council of the apex body was already declared null and void last year.
A memorandum issued by Registrar of Societies, Manipur rejected the proposal for an Annual General Body Meeting on July 31, 2019 being submitted in a letter to the above by Jyotirmoy Roy, general secretary (i/c) of AMFA as presently there is no valid or legally accepted executive council or office bearer of AMFA to call general body meeting for election of new executive council under existing rules/constitution.
It may be mentioned that Registrar of Societies had appointed a Returning Officer to conduct election of new executive council of AMFA in larger interest of the public and football in particular and election process to install a legally acceptable executive council of the footballing body through valid general body members/ meeting was initiated as per section 39 of the regulations of the Manipur Society's Regulation Act 1989 " Settlement of Disputes" last year.
Accordingly the Returning Officer had also notified the final voter list for the election on August 14, 2018 but the notification of general body meeting and election was suspended due to various pending Court cases.
And as all the pending Court cases have been withdrawn and acknowledging the requests received from different sections of sports lovers as well as members for resumption of election to AMFA executive council, the department will proceed to conduct the election after gathering all requisite information at the earliest so as to avoid any complicacies in future.
