Maisnam Meiraba wins U-19 singles title at "White Night Russian Jr Intl Badminton Tourney"

IMPHAL, Jul 7 : Maisnam Meiraba from Manipur has added yet another feature on his cap as he clinched the U-19 singles title today at the " White Night Russian Jr International BadmintonTournament, 2019" organised by National Badminton Federation of Russia at St Petersburg, Gatchina, Russia since July 4 under BWF/ Badminton Europe. This is the first international title for Meiraba in the U-19 singles competition.
Meiraba which overcame Russia's Georgii Karpov 24-22, 21-13 in the semi-final yesterday got the better of Varun Kapur 21-5, 21-9 to win the title of the competition today.
Earlier in the first round clash, Meiraba sealed a 21-7, 21-14 win against Vsevolod of Russia and outlasted Hans-Kristjan Pilve of Ethiopia 21-12, 21-8 to reach the quarter final.
In the quarter final, Meiraba asserted his dominance to dump Thailand's Surasit Ariyabaraneekul 21-15, 21-12.
