State Subroto Mukerjee Football: Kakching Wairi HS, St Peter School extend winning runs in U-14 boys competition

IMPHAL, Jul 8 : Kakching Wairi High School, Kakching district and St Peter School, Chandel continued their fine form and earned their second wins to take a step forward for the semi-final spot in the U-14 boys competition at the ongoing State Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament being organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Kakching Wairi earned their second Group (A) stage win as M Dhanachandra hit four goals alone (11', 28', 33', 45') while S Arjun (1', 22') and Abishek  (6', 46') contributed two goals each en route to their 11-2 win against The New Model English School, Thoubal at Main Stadium today. M Malemnganba (9'), Ph Johnson (30') and L Robert (34') also scored for the Kakching side while Md Sohail (19') and Md Zumakhan (43') netted the face saving goals for the Thoubal side.
St Peter School, Chandel on the other hand edged past HM English School, Churachandpur by 3-2 goals to inch closer to the knock-out stage.
Kalhian Gaipou (7'), Kopsengam (8') and W Dember (35') scored for the Chandel side and Thang Albert (14') and Khaigensang (26') made it for the Churachandpur side which suffered a 0-3 defeat by TG English School Bishnupur earlier in their opening match.
TG English School's goals were scored by Th Robertson (25', 43') and Abungton (52').
Earlier in a Group D league match, CT Higher Secondary School, Imphal West sealed a narrow 2-1 win against Mt Zion Sr Secondary School, Senapati. Both the goals for the Imphal West team was scored by Th Dinku (1', 26') while Rodu Duo scored for the Senapati side in the 7th minute of the match.
U-17 Boys Competition
Springfield School, Thoubal also maintained their fine form in the U-17 Boys competition as they sealed another landslide win against JRD Pathseeker Academy, Kakching today (Group A). SNGC Memorial English School, Kangpokpi also registered a  2-0 win today in a Group C league thanks to goals by Milah (22') and Gouthang (60+1'). The bad tempered Group D league match between Taithu Govt High School, Pherzawl and VM High School, Tengnoupal ended in a 2-2 draw before Ukhrul Public School, Ukhrul held Mt Zion Sr Secondary School to a 1-1 draw.
In the Group A league match staged at Practise Field Khuman Lampak today, Springfield School were on their task right from the word go as N Ajitkumar (10', 28', 40') and L Jackson (23', 24', 43') who led the attack up at the front and completed their trebles to help their team a clean 8-0 finish against JRD Pathseeker Academy. The other two goals for the team were scored by G Nanao Kabui in the 15th and the 18th minute.
Meanwhile the second Group D league match of the tournament between Taithu Govt High School, Pherzawl and VM High School, Tengnoupal saw the two sides lose one player each. Khamsanglean of Taithu Govt High School saw straight red in the 32nd minute of the match while Seigoulen of the Tengnoupal side had the same fate in the 41st minute.
VM High School made the most of the earlier proceedings and found the breakthrough early in the 3rd minute with the help of Lungkhosei but the Pherzawl side did not lose heart easily and managed to draw level in the 32nd minute through John Lal Rousang before James Lalhlungsang overturned the lead in the 41st minute.
The Pherzawl lads looked positive of earning all three points but Lunminthang of VM High School made his effort count during the stoppage time (60+4') and helped his team salvage a point.
Meanwhile in the third Group B league match of the competition, Ukhrul Public School shared spoils with Mt Zion Sr Secondary School as Thangkhalen Chongloi's 27th minute strike for the latter team was cancelled out by Kagipmei Awongshi in the 59th minute.
