Governor's Taekwondo Cup Manipur: NSA earn 16 medals on Day 2 to take lead

IMPHAL, Jul 8 : The second day at the 15th Governor's Taekwondo Cup Manipur 2019 organised by All Manipur Taekwondo Association at Indoor Stadium Khuman Lampak witnessed National Sports Academy (NSA) take the lead with a total of 13 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals after 8 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals were added today. UTA which were at the pole position yesterday are in the second place with 8 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze medals at the end of the second day while SAI-RC are in the third place in the tally with a total of 24 medals including 7 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze.
Altogether 331 male and 142 female athletes from 16 affiliated units across Manipur are taking part in the tournament which kicked off yesterday in the presence of Bobby Waikhom, IAS, president All Manipur Taekwondo Association; M Jay Singh, IAS, Commissioner MAHUD and Agriculture Department as dignitaries.
NSA's K Sonia Devi (Sub-Junior Girls' U-26 kg category); S Rikison (Cadet boys' U37 kg), L Nonglei (Cadet boys' U45 kg), Arubam Kishan (Cadet boys' U53 kg), Potsangbam Victoria (Cadet girls' U33 kg) Manda Yaikhom (Cadet girls' U41 kg), Sh Sushil Meitei (Junior boys' U48 kg) and Naorem Rima Devi (Junior Girls U44 kg) bagged gold medal on the second day for a major lift to their unit while L Nikash Meitei (Cadet Boys' U29 kg), Dangshawa Mothil (Cadet Boys' U-53 kg), Nongthombam Saina (Cadet Girls' U41 kg) and L Lemba Meitei (Junior Boys' U55 kg) grabbed the silver medals. NSA's Aditya Elangbam (Cadet Boys' U37 kg), L Lamnganba (Cadet Boys' U-53 kg), Hafija Khatun (Cadet girls' U-41 kg), Y Pobitro (Junior Boys' U-55) won the bronze medals.
