IMPHAL, Aug 17 : The JAC formed in connection with the death of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu has expressed heartfelt gratitude to all organisations, clubs and student organisations which endorsed and sup-ported the mass sit-in pro- tests held at different locations today.
A press release issued by the JAC urged all to take part in the torch rally tomorrow.
The JAC also strongly condemned the investigation process which has not yet achieved any tangible progress. It adding that they would carry on different forms of agitation until the culprits are awarded befitting punishment.
It appealed to all who will be taking part in the torch rally, to carry out the protest rally peacefully.
It also appealed to the police not to use force to disperse/disturb the rally like using tear gas shells etc.
Meanwhile, the co-convenor of the JAC, who is presently in police custody, has launched a hunger strike from today, it informed while adding that the rest of the JAC members inside the jail have also started making necessary preparations to follow his footsteps.
The JAC then demanded the State Government to hand over the case to the CBI by adding Section 302 IPC (murder).
It also demanded the Government to bring out the document which shows solid evidence that the case has been handed over to the CBI.
Numerous unwanted incidents will unfold if the State Government remains indifferent to the demands put forth by the JAC, it warned.
