Babysana JAC cautions Govt

    19-Aug-2019
IMPHAL, Aug 19: The JAC formed in connection with the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana has cautioned the Government against making any false claims like it is doing to pain the JAC as one inciting protests and agitation, and made it clear that it will continue its protest until and unless the case is handed over to the CBI for investigation.
A press release issued by the JAC today narrated that after getting assurance from the Government that section 302 (murder) will be included while handing over the case to the CBI, the JAC, CSOs and the people decided to claim the dead body of Babysana.
The JAC also decided to continue democratic forms of agitation until justice is delivered. However, the State police made some claims and statements which immensely disappointed the people and the JAC. As such, it is the Manipur police who are responsible for the current situation and not the JAC, it reasoned.
On the other hand, the JAC asked why the SIT was continued if the case had been given to the CBI and questioned why the Government is trying to fool the people.
Alleging the authorities of trying to destroy evidences, the JAC explained that as the case has been supposedly given to the CBI then the hostel of Standard Robarth Hr Secondary School should be sealed.
The JAC further accused the Government of trying to push the case under the carpet and added that arrest of the JAC members, foiling attempts to organise peaceful rallies and sit in protests as well as trying to arrest other JAC members etc are signs that the Government is up to no good.
It lamented that investigation on the line of section 420  (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) into the case, is an attempt to dilute the issue and reasoned that if the Government wants peace, then the only solution is to deliver justice to Babysana.
Demanding the Government to honour the sentiments of the people, the JAC announced that it will continue its protests until and unless the CBI begins investigation.
