DIMAPUR, Aug 19: Amidst reports that the Government of India has set a three month time frame to resolve the Indo-Naga issue, NSCN-IM general secretary, Th Muivah arrived in Dimapur on Monday.
Sources informed Newmai News Network today evening that Th Muivah along with other senior leaders of the NSCN-IM landed at Dimapur Airport around 12.30 pm.
It is however not clear whether the talks will be held here or not. The arrival of Th Muivah in Dimapur at this juncture has triggered immense curiosity as the Government of India's Interlocutor for the Naga peace talks, RN Ravi is also the Governor of Nagaland State now.
Meanwhile, if Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tasked RN Ravi to resolve the Naga political issue within three months time, then there is hardly two and half months left for the time frame to lapse. The point of time should begin from the day (August 1) RN Ravi became the Governor of Nagaland, as the Prime Minister had given the time frame to resolve the Naga political issue before Ravi took office of the Governor of Nagaland as per reports.
Meanwhile, speaking at a civic reception programme organised in his honour in Kohima recently, RN Ravi had said that before his appointment as the Governor of Nagaland State, Narendra Modi had tasked him to conclude the Naga peace talks within three months time. "That is a long enough time because we have been talking and negotiating for the last 22 years.
In the last five years we have taken spontaneous steps by including all the stakeholders; both sides trying their best, and there is no reason why we cannot conclude it," RN Ravi was quoted by The Morung Express as saying.
“We have agreed that with the Government of India acknowledging the unique history of Nagas, the Naga political solution is on the basis of power sharing and inclusive peaceful co-existence”, RN Ravi had also said.
RN Ravi had added that the Prime Minister had given him one mantra and that mantra is that the Naga political issue has to be resolved on the principle of equality and mutual respect with due regard to the contemporary realities.
The Interlocutor had also said that the trust bestowed by the Naga people on him has been a humbling experience, The Morung Express further reported.
“Your trust in me has been humbling for me. I have been receiving it in abundance ever since I have been engaged with you for the resolution of the Naga political issue. And at times I wonder what God has in store for me and for my Naga friends. All that I do is to pray to Him as I do not know what he has for me. Why has he chosen me for this job ? But all that I do is I pray to give me strength and deliverance to fulfill the mission. I pray for the deliverance of our people who had been longing for peace for such a long time,” RN Ravi had added.
RN Ravi had also said that the shadow cast by the unresolved Naga political issue “must go because our people deserve sunshine."
