18th State Mini Volleyball Tournament underway

IMPHAL, Aug 20 : The 18th State Mini Volleyball Tournament-2019 being organised by All Manipur Volleyball Association kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium with a total of 18 team clubbed into four groups taking part in it.
The opening match of the tournament saw NYVA-A, Naorem kick off their Group A campaign with a straight set win against KLLK, Mayang Imphal. It was an easy going for the Naorem side as they eased to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-15 win.
The team however went down 25-13, 23-25, 20-25, 18-25 in the hands of KLYGC, Kangmong  in another fixture of the day.
In another Group A league match, AMYC, Andro Machengpat handed KLLK the second defeat with an easy 25-8, 25-23, 25-11 finish.
Meanwhile in the Group B opener, TRYVC, Ukhrul edged past LEWA, Lamding by 3-1 sets before easing to a straight set win against USDC, Uyumpok. TRYVC faced an stiff opposition from LEWA in the beginning and were forced to concede the second set but managed to hold off the pressure and sealed the game 27-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-16.
TRYVC then eased to a 25-21, 25-11, 25-19 in the second outing against USDC to post their second win at the tournament.
YMDO, Heirangoithong also kicked off their Group C campaign with a convincing 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 win against YCGC, Chajing.
Elsewhere in the Group D opener, KYLSC, Kachikhul made a huge comeback to carve out a 3-2 set win after stumbling in the first two sets to HYDCCL, Heigrujam.
The Heigrujam side looked positive to wrap up the game as they managed to seal the first two sets 25-16, 25-19 but KYLSC clawed back in the third set with a 25-20 finish before taking control of the fourth set 25-21 to extend the match into the tie breaker.
KYLSC held their nerves and finished the deciding set 15-11 to go home with full points.
