Theatre, film training course ends

IMPHAL, Aug 20: The one month theatre and film training course organised by Thanga Artists’ Association, Thanga  at Nongdol Lairembi, Thanga Tongbram Leikai has concluded today.
Speaking at the event as chief guest, M Asnikumar Singh said “Thanga has a rich cultural and historical background which often goes unnoticed today. The present generation ought to remember the contributions and achievements of eminent artists from Thanga; Heisnam Mangoljao (Khongjom Parba), Heisnam Ashangbi ( Nat Sankritan), Thanga Kesho (Nat Sankritan), Heisnam Babu (Pung), Akhom Gourabidhu (Nat Sankritan) to name a few. It would be enlightening to see the youths of Thanga channelling their positive energy towards exploring new ideas in order to popularise different forms of theatre and art based on the unique culture of Thanga".
"I personally felt immense pleasure after witnessing the energetic performances of young artistes from Thanga  today. I will personally extend all possible aids from my side to promote the rich culture of my beloved Thanga to the rest of the world in the future," he said.
The function was also attended by Meghachandra Kongbam (retd Director DIPR) Chairman, Banyan Theatre, Imphal, Khhetri Jugindro(Sr NSD),  Director, Manipuri Enshemble, Imphal, Ibochouba Meetei, workshop director and renowned film & theatre director, Khwairakpam Sanayaima Singh, vice Principal, Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec School & secy, Loktak Khorjei Lup, Thanga as guests of honour . 
A drama titled “Eikhoisu Jibani” was presented by artistes at the event.
