IMPHAL, Aug 20: Ban on encashment of Government bills which was imposed by the Finance Department since June 12 this year after the State Government ran into an overdraft of Rs 274 crore has been lifted.
However, the ban was earlier relaxed for release of employees’ salaries and pension for pensioners.
An office memorandum issued today by Principal Secretary (Finance in-charge) Rakesh Ranjan authorised departments and treasuries to release expenditure sanctions as well as pending bills.
The office memorandum directed all concerned to pass pending bills promptly.
According to the office memorandum, the validity period for newly issued cheque drawal authority (CDA), encashment permission (EP) and encashment of funds from Government accounts is 15 days.
However, earlier instructions of Finance Department would continue to apply regarding expenditure sanction, encashment permission, CDA and encashment of funds from Government accounts MH-8443/8449, mentioned the office memorandum.
