3rd President Gold Cup: Ideal win three of three to finish girls' league leader, BH ensure U-14 boys semi-final berth

IMPHAL, Aug 21 : Ideal girls (U-17), Tera Bazar wrapped up their league campaign on high note and ensured their place in the final as they demolished Bishnupur Hockey (BH) 13-0 in the ongoing 3rd President Gold Cup Hockey Tournament ( for U-17 girls and U-14 boys) at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium today. YCCIC, Kontha girls also made their way back into the title race as they overwhelmed MEIRAA, Bashikhong by 11-0 margin.
Ideal girls having sealed the earlier two games, looked confident and made the most of the possession and scoring chances through out the game. T Ayingbi shone with 6 goals (17', 19', 20', 25', 31', 32') including a goal from penalty corner as she took charge of the onslaught from the second quarter onwards after her team led the first quarter 3-0.
Sh Tanu who opened up the scoring in the 3rd minute also gave a brilliant performance by completing his treble with two more goals in the 11th and the 39th minute while Ch Bebika (5'), L Ritu (9'), Ksh Sophia (23' off a penalty corner) and Angom Sana (38') struck a goal each to help the team post their third huge win at the tournament. Altogether 4 penalty corners were awarded to Ideal in this one side match.
Meanwhile YCCIC, Kontha which suffered their opening tie loss to Ideal keep their final hope alive trouncing MEIRAA 11-0 today courtesy of goals coming from K Eleena (14'), K Priyanka (18', 54'), S Babyrani (35',41') and M Priya Devi (22', 34', 55', 56', 59', 80').
YCCIC will meet BH in the last league match for U-17 girls tomorrow for the remaining slot in the final at 3.15 pm.
Elsewhere in the U-14 boys competition, BH bounce back from previous tie snub to down KHSC, Khongman 5-1 to become team to ensure their place in the semi-final from Pool A. They have downed MEIRAA, Bashikhong by 7-0 goals in their opening tie on August 18.
BH started the game on a positive note and led the first quarter 2-0 thanks to S Rishikanta (6') and N Rohit (11').
N Rohit grabbed another in the 17th minute to hand BH a 3-1 lead in the quarter final as Ksh Borish scored a goal for KHSC in the 23rd minute off a penalty stroke.
The two team drew blank in the third quarter before Th Rohit of BH banged in two goals back to back in the 54th and the 56th minutes and finished the game 5-1.
BH were awarded 2 penalty corners in this game while KHSC got 3.
HWC will meet YCCIC in the Pool A deciding match tomorrow at 2 pm.
