3rd President Gold Cup: HWC, YCCIC emerge victorious

Imphal, Aug 22: HWC, Langthabal decimated Meiraa Bashikhong by 10-0 goals while YCCIC, Kontha (U-17) defeated Bishnupur Hockey (BH) 3-1 in the ongoing 3rd President Gold Cup Hockey Tournament (for U-14 boys and U-17 girls) at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium today.
In Boy's Pool A league match, HWC, Langthabal proved too strong for Meiraa Bashikhong as the players of HWC scored at will without much resistance from Meiraa's players.
HWC, Langthabal surged ahead 4-0 in the 1st quarter and was further extended to 5-0 in the 2nd quarter. The goal scoring spree did not stop here as HWC added two more goals in the 3rd quarter to make it 7-0. In the 4th quarter, 3 more goals were added to wrap up the match with 10-0 goals.
Nelson Th scored 3 goals (9', 14', 29') while S Sanson (4', 22'), K Vikram (6', 38'), K Dilip (7', 32') scored 2 goals each and K Sanjit (36') chipped in with one goal.
In U-17 girls league match, both YCCIC and BH failed to produce any goal in the 1st quarter but YCCIC surged ahead with 1-0 lead in the 2nd quarter.
BH fought back in the 3rd quarter to level the score at 1-1 but YCCIC added two more goals in the 4th quarter to take home the match with 3-1 goals.
For YCCIC, L Natalie scored one goal in the 24th minute while K Ilina and S Babyrani added two goals in the 47th and 49th minute.
The lone goal for BH was scored by Th Sushitra in the 45th minute.
HU Leirikyekbam Leikai will meet YCCIC Kontha at 3 pm tomorrow in girls pool-B league match.
