3rd President Gold Cup Hockey: YCCIC ease into U-14 boys semi-final as Pool B winners

IMPHAL, Aug 23 : YCCIC, Kontha Ahallup thrashed Hockey Union (HU), Lairikyengbam Leikai by 7-2 goals to seal a semi-final berth of the U-14 boys competition at the 3rd President Gold Cup Hockey Tournament being organised by Manipur Hockey as Pool B winners.
HU finished the pool runners up on the back of one win against SEYO, Singjamei and will meet Pool A winners HWC, Langthabal in the first semi-final tomorrow while YCCIC will take on Pool-A runners up Bishnupur Hockey in the second semi-final.
Silheiba made the most of the scoring in this one sided match with 3 goals in his name while W Rohit scored twice to ensure YCCIC the huge win against the Lairikyengbam Leikai side.
YCCIC started positively with S Rishi Singh converting a penalty corner in the 5th minute while W Rohit and Silheiba added a goal each in the 11th and the 13th minute respectively to make it 3-0 in the first quarter.
YCCIC drew a blank in the second quarter but HU pulled back a goal through a penalty corner converted by W Deris with perfection. YCCIC however came up with 2 goals in the third quarter as Y Rishi (34') and Silheiba (36') finding the net while Kh Suraj of HU added their last goal in the 40th minute.
The onslaught continued in the last quarter and it were W Rohit and Silheiba took the honour to score a goal each respectively in the 52nd and the 57th minute and completed the 7-2 win.
