MU Inter College Football: MB College, Kumbi College, Biramangol College and Thoubal College victorious

IMPHAL, Aug 25 : MB College, Kumbi College, Biramangol College and Thoubal College emerged victorious in their opening matches today to advance into the next round of A Pratap Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter College Men's Football Tournament which is being hosted by YK College, Wangjing at Kodompokpi Sports Complex under the supervision of MU Sports Committee.
The tournament began yesterday with a total of 34 college teams participating in it and the opening match saw YK College thrash Mt Zion College by 10-1 goals. Th Johnson (14', 41', 52', 55') and A Joychandra (17', 26', 37', 73') top-scored with 4 goals under their names while L Robinson (34') and Th Thoithoiba (76') added a goal each to hand YK College the huge win. The lone goal of Mt Zion College was scored by M Masouhrji Pao in the 43rd minute.
Day 2 Matches
Today in the second match of the tournament, Kumbi College edged out Asufu Christian Institute by 4-2 goals. Kumbi College led the first half 2-1 with thanks to goals by R Sangkhupreng (23') and M Emmanuel (25') after LEangao D of Asufu Christian Institute broke the deadlock in the 20th minute.
M Rengchungam (36') and S George Kom (64') then added a goal each in the second half for the Kumbi side while L Kashaghiio scored the second goal for the losing side in the 57th minute.
The 3rd match of the tournament witnessed MB College saw off Semco Komlathabi by 5-3 goals on penalties after a 1-1 draw during regulation time.
A Buen scored for MB College in the 16th minute before R Angtae of Semco Komlathabi drew level in the 20th minute. Despite efforts from both the ends the scoreline did not changed till the final whistle leading the game to be decided via penalty shoot-out wherein MB College's Arab Khan Komol, MK Ajmir Hussain, A Bijen and Md Miraj Sharif all found the net while N Druba and Th Yumjao only managed to score for the Kodompokpi side.
Meanwhile in the 4th match, W Manglemba (9', 47') and L Kumarjit (20', 22') scored twice to help Thoubal College knock out MIT, Takyelpat by 5-1 goals. Somorjit scored the final goal for the winning side in the 70th minute while Thangminglen (3') was the lone scorer for MIT.
Elsewhere in the 5th minute, Biramangol College edged out Modern College by 3-1 goals thanks to goals by Surjakanta (13'), Jackson (22') and Birjit (32').
Kamgouhao Mate scored the only goal for Modern College in the 12th minute of the match.
