Draws mark Day 5 of IE 1st Divn Football League

IMPHAL, Aug 25 : The 5th day matches of the Moirangthem Ibobi Memorial First Division Football League Tournament 2019-20 being organised under the aegis of Imphal East District Football Association at NESU Ground, Khurai ended in draws.
The first match of the day saw CSC, Chanung hold PRYA, Khundrakpam to a 2-2 draw with the help of Goulen's double.
Goulen drew first blood early in the 5th minute and handed CSC a 1-0 lead in the first half before PRYA fought back to overturn the lead. Malemnganba hit the equaliser for PRYA in the 49th minute while Kh Amarjit Singh scored the second goal in the 72nd minute to make it 2-1.
Goulen of CSC however got a penalty kick converted in the 74th minute to drew level and helped his team salvage a point as neither side were able to find the breakthrough till the final whistle.
Th Abung of CSC (40+1') and Arnold of PRYA (27') were yellow carded by the referee.
Meanwhile in the another match of the day, Angtha FC rallied back after trailing 1-2 in the first half to settle the game in a 3-3 draw with USA, Khurai.
USA's Bobi Ningthouja scored the opener in the 21st minute but L Sudhir of Angtha FC calmly converted a penalty kick being awarded to them in the 33rd minute to make the score level at 1-1. The parity however failed to last long was Sonit Thapa got his first touch converted into goal in the 38th minute and handed USA a 2-1 lead till the break.
Sonit Thapa continued his fine form after the restart and completed his brace in the 45th minute to help his team extend the lead but relentless Angtha FC were rewarded of their hard work in the form of two goals with Somorjit (60') and Arun (75') finding the target and made it 3-3 at the end to share the spoils.
In yesterday's matches, NIVSO, Keibi downed UPSA, Pukhao 1-0 thanks to Samson's strike in the 60th minute after a goalless first half while ESU, Wangkhei drubbed SSC, Porompat by 4-0 goals. Bhagirot shone with a brace in this match (24', 38') after Arif Huissain found the opener in the 10th minute and D Thangabar drove home the final goal in the 44th minute.
