Look East to Act East: Assam CM at Royal Global University

Guwahati, Aug 28: Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam inaugurated the new academic block and unveiled the bust of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Royal Global University (RGU) yesterday.
The inauguration was done in the presence of Queen Oja, MP, Guwahati, and Bimal Bora, MLA, Hrishikesh Goswami, Press Advisor to the Chief Minister, Bikul Chandra Deka, Vice Chairman, Assam Petrochemicals, Syed Mominul Awal, Chairman, Assam Minority Development Board, Deepak Kedia, IGP Law & Order, AK Pansari, Chancellor, AK Modi, Pro-Chancellor, Prof Dr SP Singh, Vice-Chancellor, faculty and students. The CM also planted a sapling at the event.
AK Pansari, in his welcome speech, lauded the CM for his dynamism, perseverance and his ability to reach out to the masses. He spoke about the exodus of students from the Northeast and about his vision to put an end to the ‘Brain-drain’, also requesting support from the Government to turn the dream into a reality.
The gathering was also addressed by Prof Dr SP Singh, who expressed his views on the need to reinstate values of Sanskriti, Samriddhi and Sukriti among the youth of the Nation. Queen Oja praised the entire team of Royal Global University for their dedication and competency, hoping for it to emerge as a forerunner among the list of top private universities in India.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal addressing the august gathering, highlighted the cultural heritage and richness of the State of Assam. He emphasized on the need to follow the laws of nature and appealed to the conscience of all seated in the auditorium to conserve water and commit, with strong determination to restore and protect the environment. He shed light on two vital elements which when balanced, can lead to growth and prosperity of a region - Economy and Ecology. With reference to the “Act East Policy”, he also spoke about how this part of the country was previously neglected and its stride towards integration of the Northeast Region with both the ASEAN and the BBIN countries. He also encouraged the  students to strive to be smarter than the smartest in this age of cut-throat competition.
Faculty and staff of Royal Global University and Royal Global School donated a cheque of Rs 5 lakh from their one day’s salary towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood victims of Assam. Two mesmerizing dances - Ganesh Vandana and Kshatriya Dance Recital were also performed.
