U-17 Boys Subroto Cup: Manipur trounce Arunachal Pradesh 8-1 to extend winning run

IMPHAL, Sep 10 : Manipur team represented by Springfield School registered second consecutive win at the Diamond Jubilee Edition of Subroto Cup 2019 for U-17 Boys by decimating Arunachal Pradesh team 8-1 in a one sided match today.
N Ajitkumar and L Jekson Singh shared the spotlight in today's game as both managed three goals each for the State team while Kh Arun and Golmei Anal slotted home a goal each.
The State team got off to a flying start with N Ajitkumar firing home the opener early in the 8th minute and Kh Arun doubled the lead in the 12th minute.
Arunachal Pradesh also fought back well and got a fine opportunity in the form of a penalty following Th Tumbung's hand-ball inside the Manipur's box, which was well converted by Megu to make it 1-2.
The goal however didn't seem any ill effect on the State boys morale as L Jekshon Singh opened up his scoring in the 22nd minute before Golmei Anal banged in the team's fourth four minutes latter to ensure a 4-1 lead till the break.
The second half saw Manipur take complete control of the game as Ajitkumar (20', 69') and (65', 70') were consistent threat giving no respite to the Arunachal Pradesh side and completed their trebles to steer the State team to a huge 8-1 win.
Manipur will meet Army Boys in third Pool A league match tomorrow at 6.30 am.
