IE 1st Division League: UPSA down ESU 2-0 as USA hold ABA

IMPHAL, Sep 10 : UPSA,  Pukhao defeated ESU, Wangkhei 2-0 to post their second win in five matches in the ongoing Moirangthem Ibobi Memorial First Division League Football Tournament organised by Imphal East District Football Association at NESU Ground.
UPSA which registered a 3-0 win against Angtha FC rode on a brace by Th Dijen in the second half to seal a 2-0 win against ESU today.
UPSA made the most of the attacks from the earlier period of the game but lack in precision held them back from making the headway in the first half. ESU also had few chances but failed to capitalize thereby making it 0-0 till the break.
UPSA however entered the field with more intent after the restart and Th Dijen was in the right place to bang in the first goal in the 44th minute. The goal prompted the Wangkhei side to up their ante but were denied by UPSA defence till the very last moment before Th Dijen completed his double during the stoppage time and wrapped up the game 2-0.
Meanwhile in the second match, ABA and NESU were evenly poised throughout sharing almost equal possession and number of attempt and it was reflected on the scoreline as the two sides settled the game 1-1 at the end after a goalless first half.
ABA's found the breakthrough when MD Sakip fired home the ball from the penalty spot in the 57th minute but Rahul of USA denied them from walking away with all points by scoring the equaliser in the 67th minute.
PRYA, Khundrakpam will take on Angtha FC in the next match tomorrow at 1 pm before SSC, Porompat take on CSC, Chanung latter at 3 pm.
