Nagaland on vigil post Assam NRC

DIMAPUR, Sep 10: To address any chance of the fall out of National Register of Citizens (NRC) of Assam which left out nearly 20 lakh people from the list, the Nagaland Home Department has issued a set of 'advisory' as preventive measures against possible influx of "illegal immigrants" in the State.
The Home Department directed that all entry points/check gates manned by the police should be suitably strengthened to prevent any possible influx of "illegal immigrants" and mobile patrolling in vulnerable locations should be activated in the respective jurisdictions.
It also said that "non-locals" entering the State should not be allowed without the valid pass and any unusual influx of outsiders without valid pass should be promptly brought to the knowledge of the district administration.
The advisory also said that all the village/town/municipal authorities are to take measures to strictly monitor the influx of people from outside the State in violation of the existing rules/norms.
According to the 'advisory', the antecedents of any new incoming tenants should be properly checked and verified by the district administration and police.
The district administration and police are also directed to strictly monitor the regulation of Inner Line Permit (ILP), especially along the border areas.
It can be noted here that, as part of the measures, the district administration of Dimapur had convened a meeting on September 3 which was participated by "various stakeholders" including the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, all outposts/HQ administrative officers, Assistant Director Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB), Dimapur, president Sadar GB Association, Dimapur; chairman, Dimapur Urban Colony Council Forum, and colony chairmen/Gaon Buras (GBs) under Dimapur Sadar.    
Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio had stated a few days ago that the Inner Line Permit (ILP) would be "accorded on priority in Dimapur to avoid complications."
