Post NRC in Assam Border area in Nagaland on alert

DIMAPUR, Sep 11: As part of the measures to thwart any entry of "illegal immigrants" to Nagaland, a meeting was held at the official chamber of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari on Wednesday by the civil administration, police, Lotha Students Union, Eloe Hoho and Lotha Hoho of Bhandari to discuss on the possible influx of "illegal immigrants" to the State following the release of NRC list by the Government of Assam. "This meeting is to take up steps to check and prevent their entry into the State through the border areas by taking adequate measures," an official statement said.
During the meeting which was held in the presence of the ADC Bhandari, Tiameren Chang, the student leaders led by its president and general secretary Libemo Tsopoe snd Ashanthung Humtsoe highlighted the issues related to NRC and the activities taken up by the student body to prevent illegal immigrants.
The ADC asked the police to strengthen the police check gate and monitor strictly stating that no non-locals should be allowed to enter the State without required valid pass.
He also sought cooperation from all the NGOs and civil societies while checking ILP. All the members present assured that they would extend all possible cooperation and assistance to the administration and police to prevent entry of any doubtful and non-local people.
