NSCN-IM on "opportunists, deserters, opponents, detractors"

DIMAPUR, Sep 11: The NSCN-IM has said on Wednesday that "opportunists, deserters, opponents and detractors who have never fought for the cause have now started claiming their shares when solution is around". 
Citing the example of a farmer who usually works hard in the field in all weathers, braving the chill, torrential rains and heat of the sun in order to gather a big harvest, the NSCN-IM, in a statement on Wednesday evening, said that the farmer invests his labor, energy and time in cutting the thorny and bushy jungle, cleaning the swampy land and ploughing the field before he sows seeds.
"The farmer also takes all the necessary troubles in weeding the field so that he is rewarded with a rich harvest. But, sadly, when the harvest time comes, the thieves, the animals and the birds come to the field to claim their shares they have not labored for", it added.
According to the NSCN-IM, these opportunists, deserters, opponents and detractors are claiming the harvest they have not labored for.
The NSCN-IM then posed a series of questions, "Where were they when faithful soldiers of the cause were fighting against the aggressors in the east, in the west, in the north and the south? Where were they when revolutionary patriots were horribly suffering persecutions in the cruel hands of the enemies? Where were they when national leaders were doing the works of mobilization in the international political arena? Where were they when NSCN entered into a cease-fire agreement with the GoI? Where were they when NSCN cadres moved from village to village covering four corners of Nagalim for reaching the peoples on all issues? On what basis are they claiming stakeholders in the peace process?"
According to the NSCN-IM, claiming a cease-fire agreement where there is no fighting between the two parties and claiming talks with the aggressor where one has not built up a mass movement are all bizarre developments in history.
On "solution for Nagas of Nagaland state", RN. Ravi said that "that is a non-issue,” according to the NSCN-IM. The statement of the NSCN-IM then said that the Government of India is talking with NSCN-IM "because tNSCN represents the issue of the Nagas that covers all Nagas and their territories". It added that NSCN-IM represents the Naga people and the national issue. "In recognition of the hard realities, Mr. Narasimha Rao, the then Prime Minister of India stated, 'You (NSCN) represent the people; the issue is with you and you have proved yourselves.'
According to the statement, the NSCN-IM represents the Naga people including village chiefs, civil societies/organizations, political parties and the churches whereas Government of India represents India including its States.
"The talk is between the Government of India (GoI) and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) as two entities. And literally speaking, the question of stakeholders does not arise.
However, the Interlocutor of the Government of India Mr. RN. Ravi said, 'There will be only one talk and one solution, but the other groups should also be accommodated in the Framework Agreement.'
In response Mr. Th. Muivah said, 'They are welcome if they want to be part of the Framework Agreement," the NSCN-IM statement also said.
According to the NSCN-IM, it will be a horrible loss for both the Nagas and the Indians if they miss this "second bus". No one should doubt that Framework Agreement is the meeting point for the Nagas and the Indians, the statement of the NSCN-IM added.
According to the NSCN-IM, the Nagas and the Indians are inseparably inter related in many fields. "We must learn to co-exist for mutual benefits. The Nagas will not merge into the Union of India, but they will co-exist with the Union of India as two entities. Nagas are a recognized entity. Nagas do not accept Indian constitution, but Nagas and Indians will share sovereign powers based on competencies," it also said.
It then stated that the "good Lord" has opened the door for the Nagas. The Nagas must seize the opportunity when it comes.
It is said, “To every problem there is a solution.,” the NSCN-IM also cited.
"We must explore every possible way to finding the long-cherished solution. It will be a great loss for both the parties in terms of time, labor, money and life if we miss this turn of opportunity. The ‘Framework Agreement’ officially signed and sealed between the Government of India and NSCN is the meeting point for the war-ridden Indians and the Nagas on the one hand and the uniting point for the divided Nagas on the other," it also said.
The NSCN-IM statement then said, "It is pertinent to recall the statement of late  Isak Chishi Swu where he says, 'We have forgiven the past mistakes of our brothers in different camps. They should also forgive our past mistakes and unite in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.'"
