State Level JN Hockey tournament begins

IMPHAL, Sep 12 : The State Level JN Hockey Tournament for U-15 boys and U-17 girls being organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium in the presence of Angom Jugol Singh, Deputy Director, Physical Education as chief guest and L Mohendro Singh, Deputy Director, Tech and Coaching as functional president of the opening ceremony.
The day saw Imphal West trounce Thoubal district by 14-0 goals in the U-15 boys opening match before Imphal East decimate Kakching district 9-0.
I Rohit top-scored with 7 goals in his name in the 14-0 win for Imphal West while his team mate N Amarjit scored three goals. Kh Mykalin also chipped in two goals for the team while N Vickychandra and L Samson added one goal apiece to set up the huge win. Meanwhile in the second match, Kh Somikant shone with 5 goals to help Imphal East register the huge 9-0 win while his team mates, Nelson and A Suresh scored two goals respectively to make it 9-0 against Kakching district team at the end.
Elsewhere in the U-17 girls opener, Bishnupur district rode on Th Suchitra's brace to beat Thoubal district 2-0.
