Speaking at the gathering, Biren stated that a meeting of plastic entrepreneurs would be held to discuss about making other materials available to public which can replace single-use plastics.
He said that the week long celebration is aimed at spreading the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to the Nation.
Narendra Modi was born on September 17, 1950.
Sewa Saptaha is being celebrated on the themes of protecting environment, putting an end to single-use plastics, ensuring adequate supply of potable water to the masses and promoting standard sanitation, Biren said.
In the course of the week long celebration, there would be deliberations on how to protect environment  for future generations, he said.
The Chief Minister went on to claim that he has stopped using plastic water bottles. He said that he now uses cups made of glass for drinking water.
In place of plastic water bottles, water is now stored in jars inside the Chief Minister’s office, and one can drink water  using steel glasses regardless of whether he/she is a Minister/MLA, Biren said.
Water would not served to Ministers/MLAs as the Government has started trimming VVIP culture, said the Chief Minister.
Such initiatives can be put into practice only because there are many leaders within BJP who are dedicated to the welfare of people, Biren said.
He then called upon the gathering to learn  to dedicate themselves for the welfare of masses.
He further appealed to the gathering to start serving the masses at district and mandal levels.
Stating that it’s time to put an end to single-use plastics, the Chief Minister asked all the MLAs to take up necessary steps towards this end at their respective Assembly constituencies.
To discuss about viable alternatives of plastics, a meeting of plastic entrepreneurs has been convened at the level of the Chief Minister, Biren stated.
