LR Luther, N Chaoba earn top honours in "Echanupigidamak" Half Marathon

IMPHAL, Sep 15 : LR Luther and N Chaoba respectively clinched the men's and women's first places in the Half Marathon Run christened "Echanupigidamak" organis-ed by District Administration, Bishnupur and District Police, Bishnupur in collaboration with Athletic Association of Manipur today.
The half marathon run organised under the banner " Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)" was flagged off from Sendra Foothill and culminated at New Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex, Bishnupur.
LR Luther of Yaopo Colony claimed the first place in the men's category completing the course in 59 minutes 53 seconds as Kh Romajit of Khundrakpam (1:0:0.59) and  S Romesh of Samurou (1:2:33) finished second and third.
N Chaoba Devi of Luwangsangbam bagged the top place in the women's category as she reached home taking 1:17:29 while MK Minarashi of Yairipok (1:17:38) and S Premila of Yairipok (1:18:11) finished second and third.
Top three athletes of both categories were honoured respectively with certificates and cash prizes of Rs 25,000; Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 in the presence of Nita Arambam, IAS, DC Bishnupur; Priyadarshini, MPS, SP Bishnupur Police and Mairembam Ongbi Romibala, Chairperson, Moirang Municipal Council during valedictory function. Athletes who finished from 4th to 8th places in both the categories were also encouraged with consolation prizes worth Rs 2,000 each.
