'PDS food grain being distributed regularly in Senapati'

Senapati, Sep 15: Food grain under Public Distribution System are regularly distributed in Senapati district, said Fair Price Shop dealers (Rice agents) of the district today.
The food grain are distributed regularly monthly without fail, said an agent.
“Now we are less dependent on market for food grain. If food grain are distributed smoothly like now, we would be able to maintain our daily needs," said Lohrii a BPL PDS beneficiary.
Observing the smooth distribution of the PDS food grain,  local representatives have also expressed satisfaction and encourage the various authorities in-charge of PDS to continue the good work for the benefits of the BPL and AAY families.
The PDS, an Indian Food Security System (2013) was established under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Not only does the PDS distributes food, it also helps control open - market prices for commodities.
This system helps the poor and the illiterate from being exploited by the open market price.
