AR celebrates World Ozone Day

IMPHAL, Sep 16 : Units of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) celebrated ‘World Ozone Day’ by organising various awareness programmes and tree plantation drives today.
Keithelmanbi Battalion celebrated the day with the students of Lilong Higher Secondary Madrasa, said a press release issued by IGAR (S).
As part of the event, Lilong COB organised an awareness capsule for the students in which an interactive lecture highlighting the significance of environment and importance of pollution control were underlined.
Chingmeirong COB of Mantripukhri Bn organised an awareness programme cum tree plantation drive at Senai Sindam Residential High School and Youth Hostel, Cheingmeirong.
An informative lecture on ‘Deforestation and Tree Plantation’ followed by a plantation drive was held, in which students and staff planted tree saplings in and around the area.
Patsoi COB of Tulihal Bn organised a tree plantation drive with the students and teachers of Unique Golden Cradle School, Awang Khunao. A lecture on ‘Importance of Trees’ was also held followed by a plantation drive. The series of activities by the units of the Sector witnessed an overwhelming response by over 500 students and staff of various schools with each of them appreciating the efforts of AR for putting the environmental issues in the spotlight, it stated.
