17th World Suicide Prevention Day held at Thoubal

Thoubal, Sep 16: As organized in different parts of the State, District Mental Health Programme, District Health Society Thoubal in association with Social Development Organisation Thoubal Melaground organized "17th World Suicide Prevention Day" at community hall, Thoubal Melaground today.
The programme which was held on the theme "Working together to Prevent Suicide"  was attended by CMO Thoubal Dr N Jayentakumar; MS District Hospital Thoubal Ch Memcha; DPM NHM Thoubal Ch Basanta; Retd CMO Ksh Manglem and State Nodal Officer NMHP  Dr A Ranita as dignitaries.
All the resource persons present in the programme spoke on the ways to prevent suicide which is becoming a global issue of late, the preventive measures to be taken by the family members and what trigger such individual to take extreme step.
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest Retd CMO Dr Ksh Manglem said that suicide is mostly committed by those people who are suffering from mental disease, drug addicts and heartbroken. As such, it is important to closely observe their behaviour and create positive environment so that they can celebrate their life in a positive way.
