Lamlai MC suspended

IMPHAL, Sep 16 : Lamlai Municipal Council has been placed under suspension for a period of six months with immediate effect and until further orders. MAHUD Under Secretary Mohd Yasser Ahmed Khan issued an order to his effect today.
The Government issued a show case notice to Lamlai Municipal Council on August 31 to give an explanation and clarification regarding various allegations of non-cooperation and non-maintenance of basic records etc.
Audit report submitted by Local Fund Audit on August 20 regarding accounts of Lamlai Municipal Council showed various irregularities in financial management, maintenance of records, implementation of records etc, according to the order issued by the MAHUD Under Secretary.
However, on examination of the written reply furnished by Lamlai Municipal Council it was found that the council did not satisfactorily and appropriately explain the charges listed in the show cause notice and the local fund audit report, it said.
Moreover, the reply submitted by the Executive Officer of Lamlai Municipal Council to the High Court of Manipur on September 6 in connection with a writ petition was disposed by the Government as ‘devoid of merit’ in compliance with an order of the High Court on September 12, mentioned the suspension order.
