Khelo India Youth Games State cyclists dazzle as U-21 judo team emerge champions

IMPHAL, Jan 14 : Manipur's U-21 judo team with 4 gold and 3 silver medals, were crowned the team champions at the ongoing 3rd Khelo India Youth Games while the U-17 team finished second runners up with a haul of 2 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze medals. It was an auspicious day for State cyclists as they added up 7 more medals to State's tally including 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The last day of judo competition saw, U-21 team stacked up two gold and 1 silver medal to ensure the top honour. Ch Rebina clinched the third gold medal in the said age group in the 70 kg event before M Indubala added the team's fourth gold by emerging on top in the 78 kg event.
T Inunganbi Chanu bagged the third silver medal in the 63 kg event. L Jagdish (66 kg ), H Matouleibi (women's 57 kg) bagged gold for the State yesterday in the U-21 age group events while NK Somorjit (60 kg) and L Nganthoi (women's 52 kg)
Meanwhile in the U-17 age group events, Max Laishram (66 kg) and K Bishan Singh (73 kg) earned Manipur two gold medals while L Guguria was the lone silver medal in the U-17 girls' 63 kg event. H Sobashini Devi (57 kg), L Sanathoi Devi (63 kg), H Birkamal Singh (U-17 boys' 81 kg), S Maimu (55 kg), A Kirankumar (60 kg), M Roshibina (44 kg) and  N Haripyari (48 kg) meanwhile bagged a bronze medal each for the State.

Meanwhile in the cycling events at the same youth games which is underway at Guwahati, Elangbam Lanchenba Singh won Manipur a gold medal in the 10 km scratch race for U-21 boys while Birjit Yumnam clinched 7.5 km scratch race gold in the U-17 boys age group event.
Birjit Yumnam along with Khwarakpam Rahul and Konthoujam Bishan also earned another gold medal for Manipur in the 3 lap team sprint event for U-17 boys today. Elsewhere in the U-17 boys 500 m time trial event, Khwairakpam Rahul won a silver medal as N Biseshori Chanu finished second to win a silver medal in the 5 km scratch race for U-17 girls.
Kh Prena Devi on the other hand won the bronze medal in the 500 m time trial for U-17 girls before she and H Premika won a silver medal in the 2 lap team sprint event.
Manipur now have 9 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals at the event being organised under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
