65th National School Games; State U-19 girls and boys crowned sepak takraw champions

IMPHAL, Jan 15 : Both U-19 boys and girls sepak takraw teams of Manipur were crowned the sepak takraw champions at the 65th National School Games.
In the final matches of the discipline held in Andhra Pradesh under the aegis of School Games Federation of India, the State boys team got the better of Tamil Nadu in straight sets 21-17, 21-11 to win the top honour while girls team defeated Odisha 18-21, 21-7, 15-12 to emerge champions.
Earlier  in the semi-finals, State boys team outlasted Odisha with a 17-21, 21-10, 15-13 comeback win while Manipur girls secured an easy 21-9, 21-7 win against Telangana.
State U-14 girls on roll at 65th NSG Football
Manipur U-14 girls have earned three wins on the trot at the 65th National School Games in Football being underway at Kurukshetra, Haryana.
In the first match staged today, Manipur thrashed Tamil Nadu 3-0 in a one sided encounter. Silky broke the deadlock for Manipur 6 minutes into the game before Simte and Bijaya carried forward the spree by adding a goal each in the 9th and the 12th minute.
After a good start, Manipur went on to beat Punjab 2-0 courtesy Tombi Devi and Sanjita before clinching a comfortable 3-0 win against West Bengal thanks to Shelia brace.
All the three goals came up the second half after a tight first half as Anjali broke through in the 55th  before Shelia grabbed a brace (56', 58') and completed the 3-0 rout of hapless West Bengal.
