Awareness on Viral Hepatitis, screening & vaccination held

IMPHAL, Jan 23 : The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in association with Airports Authority of India (AAI) organised an awareness session on Viral Hepatitis, followed by a screening camp for Hepatitis B & C and vaccination against Hepatitis B at JNIMS Imphal today.
Project Empathy also conducted an interactive quiz on viral Hepatitis with healthcare providers, faculties and medical students present at the occasion as part of the Hepatitis Awareness Week Manipur at the hospital.
Health Minister L Jayantakumar, stressed on the importance of viral hepatitis while  Asst Professor, ILBS Dr Neeraj Raizada, State Nodal Officer, National Viral Hepatitis Control Program Dr Rosie Kumari and many other important dignitaries were present on the occasion.
More than 300 individuals were screened and vaccinated by ILBS team at JNIMS, Imphal soon after the awareness talk on viral Hepatitis and the pledge ceremony.
Jayantakumar also pledged for the cause.
Meanwhile, winners of the interactive quiz on Hepatitis B & C were felicitated. This awareness generation activity was undertaken as a part of ‘Empoweringring People Against Hepatitis: The Empathy Campaign’ Project conceptualized by Padma Bhushan recipient Dr Shiv Kumar Sarin, Director, ILBS and supported by AAI under its CSR, being implemented by ILBS, that aims to spread pan India awareness on the menace of viral hepatitis B & C.
