IMPHAL, Jan 23: The United Tribal People's Council Manipur (UTPCM) has announced that it will launch an inspection drive at all the hill district headquarters and the subdivisions in a phasewise manner, to monitor how the various Government offices are functioning as well as to check the regularity of the offices' heads and staff.
A statement issued by the general secretary of the council warned that any erring staff found absent during the visit as well as those found avoiding their duties will be reported immediately to the authorities concerned, apart from being slapped with legal actions.
It informed that all essential services like healthcare centres, educational institutions, telecom etc and all other Departments will be closely observed and inspected.
The villages' heads, youth, women leaders, residents and students will also be interviewed, it mentioned adding that the council has decided to organise the inspection drive as it has learned that many employees are not residing at their working places and are neglecting their duties, yet drawing salaries.
It is illegal to draw public money without performing their rightful duties, it reasoned, cautioning that UTPCM will not remain a silent spectator any longer.
